Last stop: Kaifeng- the former Northern Song Dynasty capital (10th-12th century AD). It got destroyed many times by the very frequent Yellow River floodings. Kaifeng also hosts the only Jewish community of China- Jewish merchants came from Iraq along the Silk Road and settled there during the Song Dynasty- the former synagogue has been destroyed though.
